The Canadian Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute has introduced a new national certification with optimized standards based on the CSA A23.4 standards. The new certification will ensure that the quality of precast products and systems is improved on an ongoing basis. This certification will be implemented in 2009.

PCI-certified plants uphold the highest standards acknowledged by the North-American precast concrete industry. This certification ensures owners, architects, engineers, and other building professionals that the certified company’s precast concrete products are designed and made by manufacturers applying total quality standards, and the certified company submits to annual third-party audits. The PCI certification covers the whole range of operations, from precasting processes to on-site installation of precast concrete elements.

The Canadian Standards Association is a non-profit organization regrouping members whose activities answer the needs of the business world, industry, government, and consumers of Canada and abroad. Saramac’s activities are certified under the CSA standard A.23.4, Precast Concrete - Materials and Construction.

The Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB), a division of the CWB Group, is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada as a certification organization. This accreditation covers all the certification programs of the companies involved in welding operations, solder products, and the welding inspectors and inspection organizations.

C-TPAT is a supply chain security program for businesses instigated by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The program focuses on enhancing the security processes throughout the supply chain of private companies as a measure against terrorism. The program was created in November 2001. In 2008, it had 9,000 participating businesses.
